June 4th, 2006 - Canadian Environment Week
The Salvation Army protects the environment by providing stores which sell clothing, furniture and appliances at affordable prices. Rather than sending discarded items to landfill sites, individuals can donate unwanted goods to their local Salvation Army. In British Columbia, The Salvation Army repairs appliances so they can be sold. This provides employment and more articles are saved from local garbage dumps.
