October 12th, 2006 - Blood+Fire Supply Co!

A new SA gear company from out of Australia. From the site:

We’re all about getting you hooked up with some great new gear for your daily fight to win the world.

We recognise that its important to be visible in todays world… we also recognise that its important to be comfortable and relevant to the space you’re in.. So we’ve designed an ever expanding range of clothing and accessories for the new Salvationist.

We create this product under a project called Turbine™, which continuously feeds resource into mission, at every turn, and is really innovative in the way it impacts all involved. Its based on promoting fair trade, and improving the lives of all involved in the production process. For more info on how it all works, click the link above. We think William Booth would be proud. We also think he’d dig our designs and we hope you do too.

Welcome to the Blood+Fire Supply Co!.

October 9th, 2006 - New TSA Blog

This blog is to serve as an encouragement to all those prophets who are just discovering their gift, are keen to exercise their gift, are looking for ways to encourage one another, or are looking for support and guidance about how they may be effective in changing the world, and meeting the mission intention of The Salvation Army; “Reforming Society”.

March 9th, 2006 - Many Voices, One Salvation Army

In an attempt to clarify some of the current debate in the Army, Lieut-Colonel Graham Durston shares personal insights* about the ‘voices’ seeking to shape The Salvation Army. He lists five distinct groups that he has encountered in his ministry:

  1. The traditionalists
  2. The pentecostals
  3. The ‘seeker-sensitive’ or ‘contemporary corporate’
  4. The radicals
  5. The neo-Salvationists (aka primitive or radical Salvationism)

He feels that there can be unity in diversity, but points out the types of statements that can create or heighten tensions between these groups. In part two of the article (still to come) he will pointed out what he considers the implications of following these voices to their logical conclusions.

*”This analysis is based purely on what Lieut-Colonel Durston has seen and heard. He has not conducted any surveys, or utilised any task forces or focus groups. While an attempt has been made to distinguish the voices by bringing a cluster of generalisations together, there is undoubtedly merging and overlapping.”

February 27th, 2006 - P.U.S.H.

Salvationists in the Australian Eastern Territory now have access to an online network service called PUSH (Pray Until Something Happens), which includes weekly email newsletter and a new website, PUSH Online.

Push is the brainchild of Rebecca Barnes (Inner City West), who decided to begin the network in 2003 after a moving experience at The Salvation Army’s Music Camp. Since then Rebecca has taken Philip Sutcliffe (Capricorn Region Corps) on board as web designer and website coordinator. The Central & North Queensland Youth councils 2004 saw the addition of Ray Elliott (Thuringowa Corps) as assistant website coordinator.

Now they can also join an online chat forum to submit prayer requests or discuss different aspects of Christianity. The aim is to connect Salvationists in the diverse Australian Eastern Territory, and to strengthen their faith and walk with God.
